Former Black Stars Team Manager Ameenu Shardow has been appointed head of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Strategic Diaspora Program.
The appointment is part of a new GFA strategy aimed at improving engagement with Ghanaian players and football stakeholders living abroad.
Shardow will lead efforts to identify and build relationships with Ghanaian footballers born or raised outside the country. His responsibilities will also include developing closer links with diaspora clubs, academies and communities.
He will work alongside the GFA Technical Directorate, Ghana Missions abroad, parents of Ghanaian players overseas, scouts and the National Teams Department.
The association said Shardow’s experience in team management and player relations would support its efforts to create a more streamlined approach to talent identification.
His work will also focus on helping diaspora-born players make the transition into Ghana’s national teams.
The GFA has not yet named a successor to Shardow as Black Stars Team Manager, but said an appointment would be announced soon.
