Zijin Golden Ridge Limited (ZGRL) has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Birim North District, pledging to work closely with local stakeholders to promote employment opportunities, worker safety, and peaceful coexistence.
The company underscored that sustained dialogue, transparency, and continuous engagement remain central to building a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with its host communities.
This assurance was given during a formal signing ceremony at the Birim North District Assembly, attended by traditional authorities, youth leaders from affected communities, and members of the District Security Council.
At the event, ZGRL and the district authorities signed a Framework Agreement that provides clarity on pre-employment health requirements for specific mining roles, ensuring alignment with safety standards while addressing community concerns.
Speaking at the ceremony, Harry He, Vice President for Human Resources at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, said the agreement reflects the company’s responsible mining philosophy and commitment to partnership.
“This Framework Agreement brings clarity, transparency, and balance. It enables us to meet our legal and safety obligations while remaining responsive to the concerns of our host communities. Above all, it reinforces our belief that sustainable operations are built on trust, dialogue and shared responsibility,” he said.
Representing the youth of the affected communities, Alexander Ofori described the agreement as a clear signal of the peaceful and collaborative approach the company intends to adopt.
“The signing of this agreement reflects the peaceful nature in which Zijin wants to operate in this area. We are inspired by the company’s vision for this community and we are ready to collaborate to achieve it. The youth need jobs, and everyone is hopeful about the opportunities this development will bring,” he noted.
The District Chief Executive for Birim North, Hakeem Abdul Antwi, said the agreement marks a new chapter in the district’s development journey.
“I am impressed today. This is about the youth, the company, and our traditional leaders working together. We have taken an important step by signing this agreement.
“I strongly believe in dialogue, and I will personally champion this cause to ensure peace and progress in the district,” he stated.
The Framework Agreement forms part of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited’s broader development agenda, which prioritizes responsible mining, local capacity building, and long-term socio-economic growth.
Through sustained engagement with traditional authorities, local government, and host communities, ZGRL aims to create shared value while promoting stability, safety and inclusive development in the Birim North District.
