The celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day reflects the country’s collective heritage and pride, Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi has said.
Speaking at the 69th Independence Day celebration under the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” the Mayor of Kumasi recognised the sacrifices of Ghana’s forebears who secured freedom and sovereignty in 1957.

He said the occasion guides collective efforts toward economic stability, social progress, and sustainable development.
The Mayor reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Kumasi, improving education, empowering youth and ensuring urban development.
The Mayor urged students to seize opportunities in the digital economy, green industries and technology to contribute to Ghana’s future.
Mr. David Oppong, Metropolitan Education Director, reaffirmed the importance of commitment to national unity, celebrating Ghana’s progress and striving for a more prosperous future.
The Metro Education Director emphasised that the country’s forefathers fought not only for freedom, but also for economic freedom, quality education and showcased Ghana’s rich heritage.
According to Mr. David Oppong, the celebration strengthens patriotism towards development and serves as a symbol of unity and patriotism.
Awards were presented to outstanding students and schools, celebrating academic success, perseverance and creativity.
