Before being known for a thriving career in music and broadcasting, Blakk Rasta says he developed a passion for writing and storytelling.
Speaking to Kafui Dey on Youtube, Blakk Rasta explained that his interest began through reading literature and studying plays.
“I enjoyed plays and in no time, I could tell the difference between an act and a scene,” he said.
The musician said he soon began writing his own material.
“As for the poems, it came naturally because I was reading poems too,” he explained.
Blakk Rasta later formed a theatre group where he wrote scripts and poems for members to perform.
“We founded the Ras Theatre Group,” he said. “I was writing all the plays and poems for the group.”
He added that his mentor was Nigerian reggae legend Ras Kimono, whose influence inspired the group’s name.
