The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has declared Marvin Senaya’s readiness to feature for the Black Stars at the international level despite Togo invitation.
Senaya, who plays for French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre, has found himself in the rare position of being named in both Ghana and Togo squads for upcoming friendly matches this month.
The dynamic full-back was first included in Togo coach Patrice Neveu’s squad for friendlies against Guinea and Niger before being included in Ghana’s 26-man roster for matches against Austria and Germany.
Born to a Ghanaian mother and a Togolese father, Yao Mawuko Senaya, who represented Togo at the international level, Marvin had eligibility for both nations.
However, Frederick Acheampong, a member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Council, has confirmed that Senaya has chosen to commit his international future to the Black Stars, turning down the opportunity to play for Togo.
“Marvin Senaya is extremely after earning a call-up to the Black Stars. He embraces the moment with great excitement. His Auxerre teammates, Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, have spoken of his delight and pride at the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage. Despite previously being named in Togo’s squad, Senaya has committed his future to Ghana” he said on Kessben FM.
The Black Stars will face Austria on Friday, March 27 before traveling to Stuttgart for the high-profile friendly against Germany on Monday, March 30, 2026.
