The Upper East Regional Minister, Mad. Paulina Patience Abayage, has presented 200 pieces of dual desks to the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Mad. Abayage appealed to the GES to fairly distribute the furniture to schools which needed them most to help improve teaching and learning in those schools.
Mad. Abayage, who celebrated her birthday on June 30, 2019, said the presentation of the desks was her birthday gift to schools, especially those that were in dire need of such educational logistics.
The Regional Minister advised authorities of schools which would be receiving the furniture to take good care of them in order to prolong their life span.
The day's presentation comes on the back of similar donations of food items and other household consumables to the Mother of Mercy Babies' Home in Sirigu, Kassena-Nankana West district and the Mama Laadi's Children's Home in the Bolgatanga Municipality on the 26th and 27th June respectively.
A Deputy Director in charge of Planning at the GES, Mr. Abdul-Korah Razak, received the desks on behalf of the schools and commended the minister for her intervention.
Mr. Abdul-Korah observed that as a new academic year was just about arriving, the minister's gesture would help in planning for the academic year.
