Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil excelled for KRC Genk on Sunday evening, scoring to complete the team’s 3-1 comeback triumph over Club Brugge KV in the Belgian Pro League playoff.
Following a slow start to the match, KRC Genk trailed after just nine minutes into the first half following Hans Vanaken’s goal which put the visitors in front at the Cegeka Arena.
However, Genk stepped up immediately to turn the tie around a few minutes later. Daniel Munoz jumped to meet an exquisite cross and hit a header that went low inside the left post to restore parity.
Mark McKenzie rose high to connect a corner into the bottom left corner, beyond the reach of the keeper to make 2-1 for Genk for Joseph Paintsil to put the icing on the cake.
The swift forward pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area and struck home into the bottom right corner to ensure Genk ended with a crucial win.
The victory keeps Genk in the lead in the Belgian Pro League title race while they await the outcome of the match between Royal Union SG and Antwerp on Wednesday.
