Political marketing strategist and academic, Professor Kobby Mensah, has highlighted concerns about certain irregularities observed during his voting experience in today’s general election.

Speaking to Naa Ashokor on TV3’s Ghana Decides after casting his ballot, Prof. Mensah pointed out two key issues he encountered and urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to address them for smoother electoral processes in the future.

Prof. Mensah noted that the EC emblem on the ballot papers featured two different logos, a situation he described as confusing for voters.

He questioned the inconsistency and called on the EC to ensure uniformity in all aspects of its electoral materials.

“If you have changed the logo, it has to be consistent across all materials. Having two logos on the ballot paper can cause unnecessary confusion for voters, and this must be rectified,” he said.

In addition to the logo issue, Prof. Mensah also highlighted the lack of clear separation between the presidential and parliamentary voting booths at his polling station.

According to him, the arrangement created confusion for voters who were unclear about where to cast each of their votes.

“There were no clear separations between the presidential and parliamentary booths. This created unnecessary confusion for voters. The EC should take steps to address such issues in future elections,” he stated.

While acknowledging the challenges, Prof. Mensah expressed hope that the Electoral Commission would take note of these observations and improve on them in subsequent elections.

“I hope we have better arrangements in the future, but for now, it is still appreciable,” he concluded.

The Electoral Commission is yet to respond to these concerns.

As voting continues nationwide, observers and voters alike are calling for vigilance to ensure a transparent and smooth electoral process.
