In line with the Electoral Commission’s (EC) guidelines for the duration of voting, polls have closed at various polling stations nationwide.
Voting started at 7am on December 7 and closed at 5pm with sorting and counting underway at some polling stations.
At the Ablekuma Central, EC officials close polls and have begun sorting ballot papers. Similar situation is taking place at Old Garden A and B polling station in Ledzokuku constituency.
Voting has also ended at Aningazanga school polling station in the Bolgatanga Central constituency. Out of 625 registered voters, 442 cast their votes.
The 2024 election although peaceful recorded some pockets of violence.
The Police arrested four persons namely, Majid Issah, Fodi Issiage Kamara, Yakubu Simalia and Alhaji Bashiru Mohamed, in connection with a shooting incident at Nyankpala in the Northern Region.
The Police confirmed that the incident led to the death of one person and the injury of another.
The injured victim is currently receiving medical care, while the body of the deceased is taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy,a statement issued by the Police said.
At the Awutu Senya East constituency, one person also sustained gunshot wound in the leg and receiving treatment at the hospital.
