Mr James Gyakye Quayson, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Assin North, has successfully secured his position for the third consecutive term after a rigorous electoral battle.
He garnered 18,023 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Mr Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who obtained 13,599 votes, while 360 ballots were invalidated.
In the presidential race, the NDC flagbearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama, received 16,762 votes compared to the NPP’s Flagbearer, Dr Mohamadu Bawumia, who garnered 12,705 votes.
The other candidates’ results were as follows: Mr Augustus Lartey received 80 votes, Mr Christian Kwabena Andrews secured 41 votes, Mr Kofi Akpaloo obtained 22 votes, and Mr Mohammed Frimpong received 12 votes.
Furthermore, Nana Akosua Frimpoma Kumakuma received 55 votes, Mr Hassan Ayariga secured 73 votes, Mr Kofi Koranteng obtained 16 votes, Mr George Twum-Bariman-Adu received 14 votes, Nana Kwame Bediako garnered 202 votes, and Mr Alan Kojo Kyerematen obtained 95 votes.
Mr Quayson pledged to prioritise accountability at the local level to promote good democratic governance.
He thanked the people of Assin North for their support and promised fo deliver his best to make the Area better.
