President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated John Dramani Mahama, the President-elect in the December 07 presidential election.
He expressed his commitment to ensure a seamless transfer of power on January 07, 2025, in accordance with the country’s constitution.
“Further to this evening’s official declaration by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Mensa, of the results of the 2024 Presidential Election, the President has called Mr Mahama to congratulate him on his decisive victory in the just-ended election,” a statement issued by the Communications Directorate, Office of the President, noted.
The statement also commended the EC and Ghanaians in general for a successful election.
It said the polls reflected the enduring strength of Ghana’s democracy, urging the citizenry to unite and work together to consolidate the rule of law.
Meanwhile, the President-elect, in his victory speech, stated that President Akufo-Addo had called to congratulate him.
They had agreed to put together a Joint Presidential Transition Team by Wednesday, December 11.
