Vodafone organizes vocational training for physically challenged at Birim Central
Akyem-Akroso (E/R), Nov. 13, GNA - Vodafone Ghana Limited has began a vocational skill training program for the physically challenged and other vulnerable persons at Akyem Akroso in the Birim Central Municipality.
The training which includes programs in dress-making, hair ribbons, fashion designing is to help build the self-esteem of the trainees and ensure that they acquired some useful skill to generate income.
Ms Josephine Nii Whang called on the beneficiaries of the program to take their training seriously and ensure that they acquired the needed vocational skill to help their families.
She said efforts would be made to assist them market their products at the neighboring markets at Akyem Oda and Agona Swedru.
Mr Oto Opare, the Birim Central Municipal Director of the Department of Social Welfare, commended Vodafone and GTP for their assistance to the program.
He said the training would enable the beneficiaries to acquire a useful trade saying “disability is not inability”.
The Executive Director of the Needy Elevation Crusaders, Mr Obeng Afari, appealed to parents of the physically challenged to send their children to the centre to acquire some vocational training and appealed to other organizations to come to the aid of the centre as they train more people in useful trades.
