The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made significant progress in finalising its competitions calendar, with dates and host countries confirmed for several major tournaments across the continent.
The updated calendar provides greater certainty for Member Associations, commercial partners, broadcasters and supporters as CAF continues to strengthen its existing competitions and develop new properties at senior and youth level.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027 will take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with the qualifying competition scheduled to begin in September 2026.
South Africa will host the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup, with Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns facing Confederation Cup holders USM Alger at Tshwane on November 8, 2026.
The match will kick off at 15:00 local time, 13:00 GMT.
Ghana, Egypt, Senegal and Morocco will also host major CAF competitions over the coming months.
Ghana has been confirmed as the host of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2027, which is scheduled for February and March next year.
Morocco will host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in April and May 2027, while Egypt will stage the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations later in the year. The U-23 tournament will also serve as the qualifying competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
CAF is also studying the possibility of introducing a new U-17 Women's Africa Cup of Nations as part of its continued investment in women's football. The competition could be launched next year if the required sporting and organisational conditions are met.
Meanwhile, Morocco will host the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations from October 12 to 21, 2026, while Senegal will stage the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in November.
CAF has also made progress on plans for a proposed African Nations League, with the competition format discussed by the CAF Executive Committee. The proposed tournament is aimed at creating more meaningful international fixtures while providing additional commercial opportunities for Member Associations.
At club level, the preliminary-round draws for the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup have been completed.
The first-leg matches of the opening preliminary round are scheduled for September 4-6, 2026, with the return legs to be played from September 11-13.
CAF says the progress made on the competitions calendar is part of its broader objective of creating a more stable and predictable football schedule across Africa.
The confirmed dates and host countries are expected to allow Member Associations to plan more effectively while giving players, broadcasters, sponsors and supporters greater clarity on the continent's major football events.
