Ghana U17 beat Morocco 2-0 in first friendly

Ghana’s Black Starlets began their two-match international friendly series with a 2-0 win against Morocco’s U17 side at the King Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.

The visitors made the brighter start in an open match, with both teams showing an early willingness to attack. Ghana took the lead in the 24th minute when Hope Agbasi converted Yaw Acheampong’s precise cross.

The Black Starlets remained on the front foot and had chances to extend their advantage before half-time. Alidu Issah and Acheampong both tested the Moroccan goalkeeper, who kept the score at 1-0 at the break.

Ghana doubled their lead shortly after the restart. Acheampong beat his marker and was brought down inside the penalty area, prompting the referee to award a spot-kick.

Issah took responsibility and confidently converted the penalty to put the Black Starlets in control.

Ghana continued to pursue a third goal, with substitute Gavi Robinho going close from distance. His effort, however, went over the crossbar.

Another substitute, Nii Odoi Tawiah, later had an opportunity after reacting first to a rebound. His effort was blocked by a Moroccan defender and deflected behind for a corner.

The result gives Coach Kassim Mingle and his technical team a positive start to the series as Ghana prepare for the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship. The competition will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Starlets will face Morocco’s U17 side again in the second friendly at the King Mohammed VI Football Complex on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
