The Efua Sutherland Children’s Park was lit on the boxing day of Christmas, as thousands of food lovers gathered for the return of the Maggi Waakye Summit.
The summit is the most popular celebration of one of Ghana’s most loved dishes.

Right from the entrance, guests were welcomed with the inviting aroma of waakye as vendors lined up with steaming pots and colourful accompaniments.
Consumers moved from stand to stand, sampling while enjoying and reflecting the rich diversity of Ghanaian food culture.
Even though waakye took center stage, the festival also offered a range of local meals, allowing gets to have more options to taste, enjoy and explore.

The relaxed, open-air setting also encouraged conversations, laughter and shared moments as families, friends and food enthusiasts bonded over generous servings.
Not only food, music and entertainment were also added to the festive mood, including live band performances which kept the crowd entertained throughout the day.
Games, interactive activities, fun challenges and give away drew enthusiastic participation from both adults and children.
In an interview, Nestlé’s Culinary Category Manager, Mark Okyere-Mensah, explained that the summit was about celebrating togetherness during the festive season.
“Food remains one of the strongest ways to connect people everywhere,” he noted.
He further revealed that being the seventh edition, it had attracted over thousands of patrons indicating a significant growth compared to previous editions.
Magherita Amon, Brand Manager – Maggi, also highlighted the role of seasoning in achieving the familiar waakye taste and asked that vendors prioritize consistency in quality in other to keep customers coming back for more.
