Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, aka Nana Agradaa
An Amasaman High Court has reduced the 15-year prison sentence handed to convicted Ghanaian fetish priestess turn preacher, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, to 12 months.
According to media reports, the High Court ruled that the original sentence imposed on Agradaa was harsh and excessive, and accordingly substituted it with a one-year term of imprisonment.
The revised sentence takes effect from the date of her conviction, July 3, 2025. This means Agradaa has approximately five months left to serve.
Agradaa is currently incarcerated at the Nsawam Female Prison following her conviction by an Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025. She was found guilty of charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretences.
The conviction stemmed from allegations that she collected various sums of money from church members after claiming she possessed spiritual powers to double money. Prosecutors told the court that Agradaa used Today’s TV and several social media platforms to advertise the scheme and invited members of the public to an all-night church service, promising financial multiplication through spiritual intervention.
More than 1,000 people reportedly attended the service and handed over large sums of money to her to double. However, the promised returns were never delivered, leaving many victims in financial distress.
Following her conviction, Agradaa and her legal team filed an appeal against both the verdict and the sentence. She first appeared before the Amasaman High Court on December 4, 2025.
In her appeal, Agradaa argued that the trial was unfair, that the evidence presented did not support the conviction, and that the 15-year jail term was excessive. The High Court, while upholding aspects of the conviction, agreed that the sentence required reduction.
