Asante Kotoko's Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has clarified the reasoning behind Albert Amoah's return to the club, emphasising that the loan deal was a strategic move initiated by his parent club, Al Ahly Benghazi, with Kotoko being their preferred destination.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Duku addressed the surprise surrounding the transfer, stating, "I am surprised that many people are describing Albert Amoah's return as shocking news. Situations like this are not unusual in football, where a club signs a player and later decides to release him on loan."
He revealed that the Libyan club proactively approached Kotoko with the opportunity.
"When they decided to release him on loan, Kotoko was the first option they considered, and we gladly accepted, taking into account Albert's legacy at the club," Duku explained. This underscores that the move was not a reactionary panic buy by Kotoko but a considered offer from Benghazi.
Amoah's return is seen as a significant boost for the Porcupine Warriors, who have been struggling for goals and form.
The forward, who was controversially sold to Al Ahly Benghazi late last year, rejoins the club where he built his reputation. Duku believes the signing will directly address the team's attacking deficiencies, stating it will "positively impact the team, particularly by strengthening Kotoko's attacking options."
The clarification from the club aims to settle the narrative, framing Amoah's return as a logical and strategic football decision that benefits all parties, rather than an unexpected or desperate move.
