Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Elton Ofoi Acolatse has secured a significant transfer within the Hungarian top flight, joining reigning champions Ferencváros from fellow FIZZ Liga side DiósgyÅri VTK.
The 30-year-old winger, a product of the famed Ajax academy, leaves DiósgyÅr after a highly successful two-and-a-half-year spell where he became a pivotal figure.
Since joining the Borsod team in 2023, Acolatse has registered an impressive 16 goals and 17 assists in 70 league appearances. His outstanding form in the current campaignâwith 8 goals and 8 assists in just 18 league matchesâcaptured the attention of the league's dominant force.
Acolatse's career began at Ajax, where he rose through the youth ranks from 2003 and made his senior debut for the club's second team.
His journey has since taken him across multiple European leagues, including spells in Belgium with Westerloo, Club Brugge, and Sint-Truiden, as well as stints in Israel with Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Turkey with Bursaspor.
This wealth of experience, coupled with his current prolific form, makes him a valuable addition to Ferencváros as they aim to defend their title and compete in Europe.
At the international youth level, Acolatse was a standout for the Netherlands, famously scoring a 91st-minute equaliser in the final of the 2012 European Under-17 Championship against Germany before converting his penalty in the subsequent shootout victory.
For Ferencváros, the signing represents a strategic acquisition of a proven performer within their domestic league, adding immediate firepower and creativity to their attack for the second half of the season.
