Young Apostles have stepped back from their threat to boycott the Ghana Premier League, confirming their decision to continue competing in the topflight despite earlier concerns over alleged biased officiating. The Wenchi-based side had hinted at withdrawing from the league following a controversial 2–2 draw with Hohoe United in their Matchday 19 encounter, with club officials expressing frustration over what they described as unfair refereeing decisions. However, speaking on Asempa FM, Chief Executive Officer Gerald Damoah Domfeh revealed that the club’s management had since held extensive deliberations and resolved to remain in the competition. “We had a meeting to review our performance in the first half of the season with management, and we have come to the conclusion that we will not boycott the league,” Domfeh said. “We will continue to play and compete well in the league.” The club boss admitted that the initial boycott threat was driven by emotions in the aftermath of the Hohoe United fixture, acknowledging that frustration over officiating played a major role in the decision. “Our initial decision was based on grievances over unfair officiating,” he explained. “We were not happy with some of the things that were happening, and that influenced my decision to go on radio and threaten a boycott.” Domfeh also offered an unreserved apology for his earlier comments, seeking to draw a line under the episode and refocus attention on the pitch. “I apologise for my earlier remarks in which I threatened to boycott playing in the Premier League.” he added. With the matter now settled, Young Apostles will turn their attention to Matchday 20, where they face Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf, determined to channel their energy into improving results in the second half of the season.
