Ghana U-20 women’s national team head coach Charles Sampson has expressed satisfaction with preparations ahead of their crucial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The Black Princesses are chasing an eighth consecutive World Cup appearance and have already made significant strides in the qualifying campaign.
“They're going on well. We're focusing right now on conditioning and also on our structure of play. Many players are not in camp yet, so we are expecting some players to drop in during the week, and then we can start shaping up the way we want to shape,” Sampson said.
The squad opened camp in Accra during the first week of January, following a 4-0 aggregate win over Tunisia in the second round of qualifiers.
The team is expected to finalize its lineup as more players join in the coming days, allowing Simpson to refine tactics and team cohesion ahead of the two-legged tie.
Ghana will host South Africa in the first leg of the qualifier between February 6–8, 2026, before traveling for the return leg scheduled for February 12–14.
With a mix of experienced campaigners and promising new talents, the Black Princesses are aiming to build on their dominant form and secure another ticket to the global tournament.
