The Queens opened their campaign in emphatic fashion, thrashing Hong Kong women's national football team 4-0 at the Al Hamriya Sports Club Stadium. Goals from Princess Marfo (28th minute), Doris Boaduwaa (40th), Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah (47th) and debutant Agejipina Zakaria (87th) sealed a commanding performance that underlined the team’s intent.
Head coach Kim Lars and his squad now shift focus to a sterner test against the Russians before wrapping up the tournament against Tanzania women's national football team on Friday. The ultimate target remains clear â to secure positive results and lift the Pink Ladies Cup trophy.
There had been brief uncertainty over Ghana’s continued participation due to tensions in parts of the Middle East. However, the Ghana Football Association moved swiftly to calm fears, assuring that the team is safe and far removed from any security threats.
Russia, champions of the inaugural edition in 2024 and runners-up last year, arrive in confident mood. Their 4-1 victory over Tanzania last Saturday highlighted their pedigree, setting up what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter against the Queens.
