Bayern Munich are on the verge of completing a blockbuster deal for Morocco’s World Cup star Ismael Saibari, with the German champions agreeing a €55 million transfer with PSV Eindhoven.
The 25‑year‑old attacking midfielder has already made a splash at the tournament, opening the scoring in Morocco’s 1‑1 draw with Brazil. His stock has risen meteorically over the past 12 months, and Bayern have moved swiftly to secure his signature, tying him to a contract that runs until the summer of 2031.
Arrangements have been made for Saibari to undergo his medical in the United States while the World Cup continues, as Bayern’s club doctor, Jochen Hahne, is currently working with the German national team in North America.
The €55 million fee represents a record sale for PSV, comfortably surpassing the Dutch club’s previous highest outgoing transfer.
Saibari’s prospective move has already been praised by his Morocco teammate Bilal El Khannouss, who told Sky Sport Germany: “I don’t interfere in other people’s careers. He’s a very close friend of mine, but I don’t meddle in such private matters. I don’t know if it’s true or not. I hope so for his sake, because he really deserves it.”
At Bayern, Saibari will line up alongside world‑class striker Harry Kane. The England captain has been supported this past season by Nicolas Jackson, who arrived on loan from Chelsea to serve as Kane’s backup. Jackson is now expected to return to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell, leaving Bayern to look elsewhere for a long‑term deputy for their star forward.
Saibari’s statistics at PSV underline his quality: in 142 official matches for the Eindhoven club, he scored 42 goals and provided 29 assists. He also helped PSV win three consecutive Eredivisie titles and add two KNVB Cups to the trophy cabinet.
For now, Saibari remains focused on Morocco’s World Cup campaign. The Atlas Lions will face Scotland in their second Group C match on June 19, looking to build on their encouraging start.
The transfer is expected to be officially confirmed once all paperwork is finalised and the medical is completed.
