The second edition of the MTN Elite U19 Championship is set to begin on August 24, with organisers finalising preparations.
The championship will run until September 4 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, bringing together 10 Regional Football Association U19 select teams.
The teams will be made up of players from Ghana’s Second Division, allowing some of the country’s promising young footballers to compete at a higher level.
Chairman of the MTN Elite U19 Championship, Edem Agbana, in an interview with Asempa FM, indicated that all is set for the championship.
The chairman, who is also President of Nukunu Sports Academy, confirmed that the second edition will take place from 24 August to 4 September.
The tournament is sponsored by MTN Ghana and is designed to provide a competitive platform for emerging players from across the country's regions and forms part of the Ghana Football Association's long-term player development strategy.
With the 10 regional selections competing against one another, the tournament is expected to provide valuable opportunities for young players to demonstrate their ability in front of national youth team coaches, scouts and professional clubs.
