Swedish-Ghanaian defender Leon Hien has joined Norwegian club Troms IL from Djurgarden on loan, giving the Eliteserien side a new centre-back option for the remainder of 2026.
The 25-year-old’s loan runs until 31 December, when he is scheduled to return to Djurgarden. Hien is a right-footed central defender, stands 1.88m tall and moves to Norway after making five Allsvenskan appearances during the 2026 campaign.
Hien played 132 minutes in the Swedish top flight this season and did not score or provide an assist. His move to Troms IL follows a six-month spell with Djurgarden, who signed him from Degerfors on 29 January 2026 for €550,000.
Before joining Djurgarden, Hien spent the 2025 season with Degerfors, having moved there from Norwegian club Odd for €80,000 in January of that year. He had made the switch to Odd from Hammarby TFF in January 2023 after progressing through Hammarby’s system.
Born in Stockholm, Hien has represented both Sweden and Ghana at national level, according to his recorded nationalities. His career has included spells with Hammarby, Hammarby TFF, IK Frej Taby, Odd, Degerfors and Djurgarden.
Troms IL, whose domestic campaign is played in Norway’s Eliteserien, have secured the defender on a temporary basis rather than a permanent transfer. Hien’s contract at Djurgarden remains relevant to the arrangement, with the loan return already scheduled for the end of the year.
The move from Djurgarden to Troms IL was completed on 5 August 2026.
