Hearts of Oak are set to part ways with midfielder Enock Asubonteng today, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The 25-year-old winger, who joined the Phobians from West African Football Academy (WAFA) in August 2021, is expected to depart the club as they continue a squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 season.
He has also been a regular in the Hearts of Oak squad, making appearances in the 2025/26 Premier League season and featuring in the club's matchday squads.
Asubonteng's departure has been on the cards for some time. He was previously linked with a loan move to Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati and has been mentioned in reports of players set to leave the club.
Asubonteng's contract with Hearts of Oak is set to expire on June 30, 2026, making this an opportune time for the club to part ways with the player as they look to reshape their squad under new head coach Nebojsa Kapor.
With his contract expiring, Asubonteng will become a free agent, able to negotiate with other clubs. It remains to be seen where the midfielder will end up, but his departure from Hearts of Oak marks the end of a chapter for the player who had shown glimpses of his potential during his time at the club.
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, continue to be active in the transfer market as they prepare for the new season under Kapor, with further changes expected in the coming days.
