Samuel Ofori makes Indonesia switch as Ghanaian defender joins Persijap

Ghanaian centre-back Samuel Ofori has joined Indonesian club Persijap from Cambodia’s Kirivong FC on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old’s move was completed on 17 August 2026, taking him from the Cambodian Premier League to Indonesia’s Super League. Ofori becomes part of Persijap’s defensive group after a spell with Kirivong, where he played before making his latest move.

Born in Accra, Ofori stands at 1.85m and is predominantly right-footed. He has played primarily as a central defender throughout his career, with his physical profile and experience across several Asian competitions forming the main context to his arrival in Indonesia.

Ofori’s career record includes 73 appearances and two goals in the Vysshaya Liga, along with 27 appearances, two goals and four assists in the Cambodian Premier League. He has also featured in continental competition, making six appearances in the AFC Cup and five in the AFC Champions League Two. His record includes 6,335 minutes in the Vysshaya Liga and 2,397 minutes in the Cambodian top flight.

Before moving to Kirivong, Ofori spent time with Khosilot and Ravshan Kulob. He joined Khosilot from Ravshan in February 2025, also on a free transfer, before switching to Kirivong in July of the same year. His earlier move to Ravshan came from The Dolphins FC in January 2022.

The defender won the Tajikistan Super Cup with Ravshan Kulob during the 2022-23 season, giving him a team honour from his time in Tajik football. That success remains the only achievement recorded in his senior career.

Ofori now adds experience from Cambodia, Tajikistan and continental Asian football to Persijap’s squad. His arrival also extends a sequence of free transfers in his recent career, following his moves to Ravshan, Khosilot and Kirivong.

The completed transfer places Ofori at his fourth recorded club since leaving The Dolphins, with Persijap becoming the latest destination in his career. His move to the Indonesian club was finalised on 17 August 2026.
