The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the closure of its Premium Passport Application Centres in Accra and Kumasi, effective February 20, 2026.
In a press statement issued to inform the general public, the Ministry said all passport applicants—particularly those with pending applications at the affected Premium Centres—should redirect their processing to the designated Regional Passport Application Centres across the country.
Applicants requiring further clarification or assistance have been advised to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit on 0302-754-200.
While the statement did not immediately outline the reasons for the shutdown of the premium facilities, the Ministry assured the public of its continued commitment to delivering efficient and quality passport services.
The development is expected to affect applicants who opted for expedited or specialised services under the premium arrangement in Accra and Kumasi. However, officials maintain that operations at the Regional Passport Application Centres remain fully functional to absorb the transition and ensure continuity of service.
The Ministry reiterated its pledge to improve public service delivery within Ghana’s passport administration system, urging affected applicants to comply with the new directive to avoid delays.
