CENPOWER Operations and Services (CENOPS) has redeemed a pledge of GH?233,180.00 to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) towards the Eight-Year Development Plan of Cape Coast.
The cheque was presented on Thursday, 13 August 2026, at the University of Cape Coast during the second fundraising event organised by the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), which is spearheading the plan.
Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Justice Arthur, presented the cheque on behalf of CENPOWER to the Coordinating Director of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.
George Justice Arthur said the support from CENPOWER would contribute immensely to the Assembly’s vision of redeveloping Cape Coast to “redefine the ancient city.”
The Eight-Year Development Plan of Cape Coast, which is the brainchild of the MCE, focuses on infrastructure, including roads, water supply, sanitation, health—upgrading the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital to a regional hospital—and education, among others, as a blueprint.
The MCE explained that the Eight-Year Development Plan would be the catalyst for Cape Coast’s development and serve as the blueprint for transforming the ancient city.
Background
It would be recalled that in June 2025, disaster struck Cape Coast when heavy downpours resulted in the collapse of buildings, affecting several residents and claiming at least one life.
In the wake of the disaster, CENPOWER extended its humanitarian gesture and committed financial support of US$20,000 or its Ghana cedi equivalent of Two Hundred and Thirty-Three Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis (GH?233,180.00).
CENPOWER’s gesture was meant to help alleviate the environmental issues associated with the disaster, which claimed at least one life.
The pledge was made to contribute significantly to the Eight-Year Development Plan of Cape Coast, which is the brainchild of the Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Justice Arthur, to “redefine the ancient city.”
