Striker Albert Amoah has made it clear that his decision to return to Asante Kotoko was driven by a strong sense of unfinished business, as the striker sets his sights on helping the club rediscover momentum.
Speaking after rejoining the Porcupine Warriors, Amoah said his comeback was motivated by a desire to complete a journey he believes remains incomplete.
The forward has returned to Kumasi following a short loan spell with Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi, a move that came under intense public scrutiny.
His exit from Kotoko followed a painful CAF Confederation Cup elimination, where the club suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club.
Since then, Kotoko’s struggles in front of goal have been evident. A sequence of low-scoring performances, including goalless draws against Berekum Chelsea and Bibiani Gold Stars, followed by a narrow defeat to Swedru All Blacks, has underlined the need for greater attacking efficiency.
In his first interview since returning, Amoah explained his mindset and ambitions.
“I decided I wanted to come back to Kotoko so that I would finish everything that I started. It’s part [the desire to win the league]â¦so I decided to come back so that we can work hard and claim it.”
Amoah is now expected to be available for selection when Kotoko face Basake Holy Stars on Sunday, January 25, as the club looks to reignite its season.
