Cape Verde goalkeeper Josimar José Ãvora “Vozinha” Dias has officially joined Chilean top-flight club Colo Colo, receiving a rousing welcome from supporters after delays following the announcement of his transfer last month.
The 40-year-old arrives from Portuguese second-division side Chaves, where he spent the past two seasons.
Colo Colo signed Vozinha after his standout performances for Cape Verde at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he helped the Blue Sharks reach the Round of 32 in their tournament debut.
Vozinha played a pivotal role in Cape Verde's remarkable World Cup run, producing a series of crucial saves throughout the tournament. His performances earned him a place in FIFA's Team of the Tournament, making him one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in the transfer window.
The Blue Sharks enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, reaching the Round of 32 before losing 3-2 to Argentina after extra time. Vozinha's heroics between the posts were a major factor in the team's historic achievement.
On his arrival in Chile, several fans of Colo Colo gathered at the airport to receive him. In a video shared on social media, Vozinha is seen smiling and waving to supporters as he walked through the terminal, clearly moved by the reception.
The 40-year-old will now link up with his new teammates as Colo Colo prepare for the upcoming season. The club will be hoping Vozinha's World Cup experience and leadership can help them compete for honours in Chile and on the continental stage.
The transfer marks a significant milestone in Vozinha's career, with the goalkeeper moving to one of South America's most historic clubs after a stellar World Cup campaign.
