Ghana defender Abdul Mumin has revealed that Girona's attractive playing style was the main factor behind his decision to join the Spanish Segunda side on a three-year deal.
The 28-year-old centre-back, who arrived as a free agent after leaving Rayo Vallecano, spoke in his first interview about why he chose Girona over other options.
"The main thing that attracted me to Girona, I think it's the club itself. I think it's a club with a lot of history, and the type of football that they play is very attractive," Mumin said.
"I believe that all footballers that want to improve in their professional career, it's a project they will look up to."
Mumin spent four seasons at Rayo Vallecano, where he enjoyed a bright start before injuries disrupted the latter half of his time in Madrid. A cruciate ligament injury limited him to just three appearances in the 2025-26 season, though he recovered in time to play a bit-part role in Ghana's 2026 World Cup campaign.
His move to Girona represents a fresh start for the defender, who will be hoping to rediscover the form that made him a key figure for Rayo.
Mumin will be looking to establish himself in Girona's defence and help the club push for promotion to La Liga. The move also provides him with an opportunity to regain match fitness and consistency after his injury struggles.
For the Ghana international, the switch to Girona offers a chance to reignite his career and prove his quality in a league where he has already made his mark.
