Ghana’s Black Princesses captain Linda Owusu Ansah has set her sights on reaching the pinnacle of women’s football, revealing ambitions to win the African Women’s Footballer of the Year award, lift major trophies with Ghana and enjoy a successful club career in Europe.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has emerged as one of Ghana’s promising young talents and is determined to build a career that extends beyond individual recognition to include collective success at both international and club level.
According to her, winning the prestigious African Women’s Footballer of the Year award remains one of her major personal targets, while she also dreams of collecting trophies with the national team and the clubs she represents.
“I want to win African Women’s Footballer of the Year, trophies with my country and various clubs, and also maybe [European Player of the Year] one day,” Linda Owusu Ansah said.
Her ambitions come at a time when she is preparing for another major international assignment with the Black Princesses, who will represent Ghana at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Owusu Ansah played a crucial role in Ghana’s qualification for the tournament, scoring a spectacular free-kick against Uganda in Kampala to help secure the Black Princesses’ place at the global showpiece.
The Ghana captain is now hoping to translate her individual talent into success with the national team, particularly as the Black Princesses seek to achieve a historic first-ever qualification for the knockout stage of the U20 Women’s World Cup.
Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Ecuador, France and Korea Republic, with the Black Princesses facing a tough challenge against some of the world’s best young talents.
For Owusu Ansah, however, the World Cup represents more than just another tournament. It is another opportunity to demonstrate her quality on the international stage and take another step towards achieving the lofty targets she has set for herself.
The midfielder’s long-term ambitions also point towards a career at the highest level of European football, where she hopes to compete for major club honours and eventually earn recognition among the continent’s elite players.
