The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in a two-day high intelligence operation in the Volta Regional capital, Ho, had rescued forty-seven (47) victims who were lured by false travel promises to Europe and America.
At least, seven (7) of the perpetrators who belong to an alleged fraudulent underground travel organisation by the name QNET are assisting the police in its bid to smash the group.
Information available to The Chronicle from both Accra and Ho is that, sometime last week the PID headquarters in Accra infiltrated and received Intel about the activities of QNET in Ho, where a number of unsuspecting victims were being held against their wishes.
That, the victims have been lured from Ashanti, Bono and Bono East regions with mouthwatering job contracts in Canada, United States of America (USA), Germany and the United Kingdom (UK).
The source went on that, the underground group after collecting your money then take hold of a victim’s passport and in a bid to secure the requisite visas camp the applicant.
The prospective traveller, who is now in the custody of the underground network group, is used under duress to inform the ‘outside world’ that all is rosy so as to attract more travellers, hence lot of money into their kitty.
Based on this information, on Thursday January 8, 2026 a squad from the PID headquarters led by Detective Chief Inspector Martin Amoanor teamed up with their Ho counterparts, under the able leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP) Mr Alexander Adade Yeboah, for the onslaught.
The PID Rescuers first stormed a house located at Somey Junction in Ho and after a hectic moment rescued eleven victims, including men and women.
The second phase of the operation took place two days later, on Saturday January 10, 2026.
At 09:00 hours GMT, the PID Rescuers proceeded to the QNET offices at Fiave Dablah Ayekple street in Ho and apprehended suspects Emmanuel Asiamah (30), Frimpong Jerry (23) and Paul Mensah (26), while at the same time freed a number of victims from what is described as ‘bondage’.
Further investigation took the police to a house at Ho Zion Down, where seven QNET victims were rescued.
Suspects Bismark Perry (26) and Vida Getah (26) were also arrested.
The source warned the public to be mindful of charlatans so as not to fall prey to scammers.
Meanwhile, the police have managed to reunite the victims to their families.
