The Public Relations Officer of Swedru All Blacks, Nathaniel Obeng, is confident that the appointment of new coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle will unlock the best form of striker Rudolf Mensah, heralding a turnaround for the forward after a challenging season.
Mensah, whose 27 goals in 30 games were instrumental in securing All Blacks' promotion to the Ghana Premier League, has struggled to replicate that prolific output in the top flight, scoring four times in 19 league appearances so far.
However, Obeng believes the arrival of the experienced Mingle, who also coaches Ghana's Black Galaxies, is the key to revitalising the striker.
"Having Kassim Mingle, who is a national team coach, handling Rudolf Mensah, I'm very optimistic that we are going to see a lot more from Rudolf Mensah in the coming games," Obeng stated in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports. "He is a good player, a good striker, and aside from that, he is a leader on the field of play."
Obeng's confidence in Mensah extends beyond the domestic league, acknowledging growing public calls for the striker to be considered for the Black Stars' 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
"He is the type of striker you would love to have in your team, and I'm not surprised that the majority of Ghanaians are asking the technical handlers of the Black Stars to give him a slot in the World Cup. He is one of the best players in our league," he affirmed.
The timing of Obeng's endorsement is significant, coming just ahead of Swedru All Blacks' crucial MTN FA Cup Round of 16 clash against Nations FC in Kumasiâa match that pits the new coach against his former club.
All eyes will now be on Rudolf Mensah to see if the faith placed in him and the new technical leadership can spark the goal-scoring form that made him a promotion hero.
